Ugandan viral sensation Tenge Tenge
has continued his remarkable rise on the international entertainment scene
after sharing the stage with American pop star Jason Derulo at the Stanbic
Music Festival in Lusaka, Zambia. The 13-year-old, real name Saad Ssozi, was
among the performers at the festival, where his unexpected stage moment with
the global music star added another major name to his growing list of celebrity
encounters.
The 13-year-old, whose real name is
Saad Ssozi, was among the performers at the Stanbic Music Festival held at the
Lusaka Polo Field on Saturday, October 3. The festival was headlined by Derulo,
36, and also featured Zambian music stars Yo Maps and Mampi, alongside
Zimbabwean singer Tamy Moyo.
Tenge Tenge's appearance at the
festival came with a brief challenge when security initially stopped him as he
tried to get closer to Derulo. However, the American singer repeatedly asked
security to allow the young Ugandan to join him on stage.
The request eventually paved the way
for Tenge Tenge to meet Derulo and share the stage with the international pop
star, creating another memorable moment in the youngster's rapidly growing
career.
The Lusaka encounter adds to the
remarkable journey of Tenge Tenge, who rose from making dance and comedy videos
in Kampala to becoming an internationally recognised social media personality.
Born in 2013, Tenge Tenge began
dancing at a young age and gained widespread attention in late 2023 because of
his energetic dance moves, distinctive facial expressions and unique style. His
videos quickly spread beyond Uganda, particularly on TikTok and other social
media platforms, turning him into a viral sensation.
What began as online attention,
including mockery over his appearance, gradually developed into a career that
has attracted millions of viewers and opened doors to commercial opportunities?
His growing fame has also brought
him into contact with several international entertainers and online
personalities, including American singer Chris Brown, popular streamer
IShowSpeed, Kai Cenat, Nigerian stars Tiwa Savage and Davido, and now Jason
Derulo.
Beyond social media, Tenge Tenge has
also entered the commercial space through brand partnerships, including
ambassadorial roles with Dubai-based Zamelect Properties and Kondeviller Tours.
His meeting with Derulo in Lusaka is
another indication of how far the young Ugandan's internet fame has travelled.
From short dance and comedy videos created in Kampala, Tenge Tenge is now
appearing on international entertainment stages and meeting some of the biggest
names in global music and online entertainment.
For the youngster who first captured
attention through viral dance videos, sharing a stage with Jason Derulo marks
another notable chapter in a journey that has taken his Ugandan content far
beyond the neighbourhoods where it all began.
